A loft (or attic) conversion is one of the most cost-effective ways of creating extra living space in your home, as well as increasing the value of your property. Although most loft conversions don’t require planning permission, converting the space requires careful consideration, planning and experience. Generally, you should have sufficient headroom in the loft under the roof to enable such a conversion. Normally, a height of at least 2.5-2.7 meters between the joist and the roof apex will be required to allow for a window installation.
